Telangana TDP MLAs plan to resign
Third ‘Telangana Ranabheri' in Nizamabad in July first week
Nagam to undertake a two-day fast from July 3 for Telangana
HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam MLAs from Telangana are planning to offer their resignations once again in an effort to put pressure on their Congress counterparts from the region to do the same as the deadline for quitting set by the Telangana Joint Action Committee ends tomorrow.
Telugu Desam MLAs took this decision at meeting of the Telangana Telugu Desam Forum held here on Friday after waiting for the Congress move.
With the Congress MPs and MLAs showing no sign of resigning, the TDP legislators feel they too should move cautiously.
Though they were prepared to resign, it would not serve any purpose and it could only lead to byelections.
They are of the view that if the Congress public representatives too quit en masse, the government would fall leading to a constitutional crisis that would force the Centre to concede their demand for a separate State. The Forum plans to organise a meeting of all TDP MLAs soon and make the offer of resignation and to submit the papers along with Congress MLAs to the Assembly Speaker on the same day. The Forum has also decided to organise the third ‘Telangana Ranabheri' in Nizamabad in July first week. It was earlier organised in Karimnagar and Tandur.
Nagam a “political zero”
Meanwhile at a press conference, senior TDP MLA, M. Narasimhulu, demanded the resignation of the suspended party colleague, Nagam Janardhan Reddy as MLA and then criticise the party. Dr. Janardhan Reddy who had become a “political zero” after moving away from TDP had no business to talk about internal party affairs like appointment of in-charges in various constituencies, he added. Two other leaders, Ramesh Rathod and Seethakka too questioned Dr. Janardhan Reddy's right to make comments while clinging on to a post facilitated by the party. The party president N. Chandrababu Naidu could take whatever step is required to strengthen the party in the region. At another press conference, Dr. Janardhan Reddy said he would undertake a fast for two days on July 3 and 4 to press his demand for a united struggle for Telangana keeping aside party flags and agenda.

TDP losing steam in Adilabad?
| District party unit divided with two MLAs extending support to Nagam |
TDP elected representatives in a predicament in the wake of Telangana movement
MLAs G. Nagesh and Suman Rathod pIay it safe by maintaining silence over the issue
ADILABAD: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Adilabad district looks a weakened entity at present owing to the recent political developments. The unit is a divided house after Adilabad MLA Jogu Ramanna and Mudhole MLA S. Venugopalachary extended support to former polit bureau member Nagam Janardhan Reddy over the issue of separate Telangana.
Though the latter has since distanced himself from the rebellious path, he is yet to join the party ‘mainstream'. “I am with Telangana,” is what the senior leader and former Union Minister told The Hindu when asked to clarify whether he was with party president N. Chandrababu Naidu or Janardhan Reddy.
Such an answer, labelled ‘escapist' by some partymen, indicates the predicament of TDP elected representatives in the wake of Telangana movement. Nevertheless, the two remaining MLAs in the district, G. Nagesh (Boath) and Suman Rathod (Khanapur) have preferred to tackle the despondency by maintaining silence over the issue.
Staunch supporter
Mr. Ramanna's aligning with Mr. Janardhan Reddy has badly affected the polit bureau member and Adilabad MP Ramesh Rathod as the former was his staunch supporter.
The MP now has a weakened presence in the district headquarters, thanks to his move. It is not as if the winds of change have spared the headquarters MLA. In fact, Mr. Ramanna's strength has been eroded considerably what with his strongest supporter in Jainad Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) member Payal Shankar parting ways after the recent developments.
Having chosen to stay with the party, Mr. Shankar now heads the group of party loyalists in Adilabad constituency known as the party's stronghold bastions in the district.
He is likely to play a major role in party politics in the days to come as his supporters expect backing from the MP.
