Learn from Tamil Nadu MPs

The popular Telugu saying ‘Adagande Ammaina Pettadu...’ (even a mother does not feed her child if the food is not asked for) seems to have come true in the case of new trains and projects sanctioned for Andhra Pradesh by Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Despite sending a strong contingent of 33 Congress MPs, the State was given a raw deal in the Railway Budget presented by the Minister in the Lok Sabha.

It is only when our MPs, facing strong criticism by the Opposition, the general public and the media, raised their voice against this “injustice” Ms. Banerjee relented and announced five new trains, including a non-stop train from Hyderabad to New Delhi.

But, this is only a consolation and does not in any way compensate for the loss we suffered over the past few years because of the neglect by successive Railway Ministers who have always been from States like Bihar and West Bengal.

Will our MPs continue to raise their voice in future too to get some other prestigious projects for AP, just as Tamil Nadu MPs always do?
